Communication and Advocacy Intern (EPD Brussels)
The EPD is an international foundation based in Brussels and created in 2008 by some 15 European organizations active in democracy assistance. The aims of the EPD are: to share knowledge in the field of democracy support (lessons learned, funding opportunities, practical experience); and to advocate for democracy assistance to be higher on the EU and its Member States agendas. The EPD is now seeking a part-time intern in the field of Communication to work under the guidance of the EPD management team.
Duties and
responsibilities:
Communication :
- assisting in developing the EPD communication strategy;
- posting articles on the website;
- proofreading of our external communication material;
- developing and maintaining the contacts database;
- feeding the EPD documents database on Democracy Assistance;
- promoting the work of EPD and its associated organisations (members)
through all available channels;
- maintaining collaborative communication with EPD associated
organizations;
- editing and distributing communication material including e-newsletters
and reports.
- setting up and maintaining EPD processes and systems including
facilitating internal communication.
Other tasks:
- assisting with such administrative tasks as faxing,
photocopying, and preparing for seminars;
- assisting in the daily function of the foundation.
Profile:
- Last year student or recently graduated with Political
Sciences or International Affairs background with an interest in and good knowledge
of EU Affairs;
- strong written and oral communication skills; native or very fluent English speaker;
- essential IT skills, must be a self-starter;
- good knowledge of Publisher or any suitable editing software
(like Adobe InDesign);
- efficiency and organization skills;
- able to work independently and as part of a group;
- able to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
Conditions and benefits:
- 4 to 10
months assignment on a short-term contract signed by the EPD and the student's
home University/School/Institute; if the candidate is not student anymore, the
internship will be executed under a volunteering contract;
- please
note the EPD does not pay for internships; the costs must be borne by the
related institution or any other source of financial assistance;

public transport ticket (unlimited public transport for Brussels);

- Interns
are fully involved in all aspects of our work; they are part of an
international team that supports them in acquiring skills to work in an
international organization and hands-on knowledge of how major international
actors and stakeholders inter-relate, at the European and global levels;

intern will be based in Brussels during the internship program;
- Possibility to attend workshops, lectures and other events
within and outside of EPD;
- Letter
of reference and evaluation grid at the end of a successful internship;
