Multi-stakeholder dialogue initiatives
One of the main goals of EPD in Egypt is to support the dialogue process between the different stakeholders of the political spectrum.
The bottom-up dynamics of the Egyptian transition represents its main source of legitimacy and at the same time demands from the institutional donors respect for the leadership of the civil society, the institutions and the political and social actors in the framework of the transformation process. Some of the above mentioned actors have started discussing the conditions and setup of a democratic reform agenda, under multiple initiatives.
The Egyptian civil society has initiated a political reform process that requires the building of a consensus between the different democratic forces in the country and a sustained effort towards strengthening democratic institutions as safeguards for the reforms achieved so far.
Via a local partner, EPD will support a series of roundtables bringing together representatives from the main political parties.
