Hard Case Countries Programme
One of the tracks of Flexible Funding Facility of the EPD is the Hard Case Country Programme. Under this programme, the assistance must be provided to democratic forces under dictatorships and authoritarian regimes which in general are more difficult to work in and require higher flexibility, responsiveness and confidentiality. In a Hard Case Country Programme, EPD focuses on supporting the democracy defenders and their families, independent press and on supporting the activities of democratic movements within civil society. Brokering the messages of democracy defenders and democratic movements to the Brussels' policy makers is another service EPD is providing.
