EPD Latin America Programme to launch a Knowledge-Sharing process

The EPD Programme for Latin America, together with the Netherlands Institute for Multiparty Democracy, Club of Madrid and FRIDE will be launching a knowledge-sharing process aimed at Associated organisations to the EPD, their partners as well as other European actors operating in the field of democracy support in Latin America.

With a threefold approach, we firstly aim at opening a debate on how to build a broad and more effective partnership for democracy between Europe and Latin America and the Caribbean; secondly, we expect to gain a better knowledge of EPD associated organisations’ and other colleague-organisations’ activities in the region, as well as to open a platform for dialogue and exchanges amongst practitioners in Europe and partner countries in Latin America and the Caribbean; thirdly, we seek to explore possible avenues for joint action in the region.

Knowledge-sharing process is expected to be launched with an event to be held in Brussels on the 24th of March 2009.

This consultation process is part of the preparatory works for the Latin America Round Table to be held in spring, which aims at identifying the perceived gaps regarding democracy support of the current partnership between the two continents.

For details on the knowledge-sharing process and possible ways to take part in it, please don’t hesitate contacting the EPD Latin American Programme Officer, Carlos Hernández (carloshernandez@epd.eu).
