Global Corruption Barometer 2009. Transparency International. 3 June 2009.
Africans among most likely to be forced to pay bribes, but they are also the most confident that their governments are trying to stop the practice. The study shows that zero corruption matters to business and consumers. Half of respondents globally (in Liberia and Sierra Leone it is 4 in 5 respondents) expressed a willingness to pay a premium to buy from corruption-free companies. This finding provides business with a powerful incentive to prove that they are clean and to communicate this clearly with the public. The study, the only world-wide public opinion survey on people's experiences with corruption, covers 69 countries, ten of them in Africa: Cameroon, Ghana, Kenya, Liberia, Morocco, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Uganda and Zambia.
