Guinea prepares for second round of presidential election. Election Guide.

Guinea’s Supreme Court on Tuesday overruled challenges to the June 27 first-round presidential election results. The ruling means that Cellou Dalein DIALLO and Alpha CONDE, who both received the highest vote totals in the first round, will meet in a runoff election. DIALLO is a former Prime Minister and CONDE is a longtime opposition leader. The date for the runoff has yet to be set, but a successful second round will make this the first democratically elected administration since the nation declared its independence in 1958.
