On
the Blog Indonesia Elections, young politicians from three regions
report on the elections in Indonesia, providing an insider's view of
local politics in practice.In Indonesia, NIMD and its Jakarta-based
partner Kommunitas Indonesia untuk Demokrasi (KID) support a growing
number of Democracy Schools that train young politicians and activists
in democratic practices and values. Many graduates of these schools are
now participating as candidates in the upcoming local and parliamentary
elections.In the weeks leading up to the general
elections on 9 April 2009, Democracy School graduates from three
regions (Malang, East Java; Banyuasin, South Sumatra; and Lembata, East
