Depending on which side of the political divide you stand, you would either agree with, or dismiss as purely partisan, the thunderous applause Liberia's President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf received upon announcing that she would contest next year's presidential election. Her pronouncement, made during her annual state of the Nation Address to parliament in January, has charged Liberia's political atmosphere.
