SRI LANKA: Voters cast ballot in poll expected to consolidate president's power. France 24.

Sri Lankans went to the polls Thursday in parliamentary elections, the first in which they can vote without fear of Tamil Tiger violence. Turnout was an estimated 30 percent amid expectations of a win by President Mahinda Rajapaksa's ruling party.
