Sudanese Opposition Protests As Election Postponed
Sudan’s interim government became illegitimate today, according to a joint statement between Darfur rebels and the northern opposition Umma Party, while the National Election Commission has postponed a February 2010 Presidential election until April. The election was originally scheduled for July 2009. The opposition agreement also formally protests census data gathered in preparation for the country’s first democratic elections in two decades.
