The Economist Intelligence Unit published a survey of the state of democracy around the world in 2006. You may not agree with their methodology - with a very Western and liberal bias -  but it does make interesting reading.

FIDEHFIDEH

An independent non-profit organisation promoting development through education and capacity building in Bolivia. FIDEH is working to strengthen the vulnerable sectors of the population and improving living conditions and knowledge of human rights. www.fideh.org

The International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (International IDEA) is an intergovernmental organization that supports sustainable democracy worldwide. Its objective is to strengthen democratic institutions and processes.

Institute for Security Studies
