Moldova CSO delegation calls for more EU presence in their country before elections in July
Four representatives of Moldovan civil society organizations visited Brussel between June 16 and 18 and held meetings with various European institutions' representatives about the current political crisis in Moldova. The EPD has supported their initiative and organized their meetings in Brussels. Please see memorandum from their visit here.
One of the requests which the delegation brought to Brussels was a call for more EU presence in Moldova in the upcoming weeks. One such possibility would be European Parliament Elections Observation Mission. The delegation has sent letters to various MEPs requesting if they would support such mission. See the letter here. The representatives of European Parliament confirmed that such mission is being planned but it is not clear if there will be enough time for the preparation since the new European Parliament will only meet for the first session on July 14th.
